Research in Focus is a summer program dedicated to exposing high school students to a specific science field, engage in questioning, literature review, and analysis in order to help students develop an appreciation for the scientific process and how it impacts real life.

This summer, small groups of high school students will review a specific aspect of cancer research and develop a question that can be investigated through the access of peer reviewed science journals and online databases.  

Groups will make a presentation exploring a disease of their choice and investigating a specific question through academic literature.

Weekly online and in-person group meetings will take place in the Santa Clarita area, culminating with a visit to the UCLA Liquid Biopsy Laboratory where student groups will present their project in front of a panel of UCLA professors and research professionals.  A tour of the campus along with a meet-and-greet will be provided by our sponsor, UCLA Liquid Biopsy Laboratory.
